Are You Called to Interfaith? ChI's February 2018 Newsletter!

A just world that honors the sacred connection of ALL

Who buries the unknown?

This month we highlight Rev. Kara Rosseaux with a glimpse of what it's like to volunteer for Maricopa County Indigent Burial Program in Arizona:

A typical week holds ten open graves, dug from the

dry dirt in the White Tanks Cemetery at the base of the west valley mountains by the same name. The absence of grass and engraved headstones creates a stark landscape; dotting the dirt field are modest round brass markers with the decedent’s name and date of death. It is the final resting place for those who have died without means, and often without family. Though the stories of those buried are not known to those in attendance - inmates from the county jail who lower the caskets into the ground and the presiding clergy - profound reverence is palpable for the lives of those we’ve come to name.

How are you helping to create a just world that

honors the sacred connection of All?

Military? Thanks? Chaplaincy?

Yes, these 3 words can co-exist in a single sentence... and now, thanks to our new partnership with the International Council of Community Churches (ICCC), they do!

This new partnership creates an avenue for our interfaith chaplains who are called to ministry in the armed forces. We're thankful to the ICCC for its broad vision and passion for interfaith dialogue, and we recognize that ChI will bring a unique voice to that conversation.

If this is the call you've been waiting for, or to find out more about ICCC or the requirements for chaplaincy with the Department of Defense, give me a call!

A special thank you to all those who are serving as military or para-military chaplains, as well as those in our community who have longed for this path. We're especially thankful to the ICCC for welcoming us to the table.
