A just world that honors the sacred connection of All

Amazing. Joyful. Inspiring.

On Saturday March 24th, 2018 gratitude and celebration reverberated as we witnessed Rev. Rivka Gevurtz, Rev. Joshua Lichterman, Rev. Leah Grace, Rev. Mary Foran, Rev. Elizabeth Hutchins, and Reet Mae take their next steps as interfaith spiritual care providers with the blessings of the ChI Interfaith Community! We hope that whatever your path, you remember this day. Your day.

What led our newest Ordinands and Spiritual Directors to ChI? Learn more about them here.

And we continue to celebrate!

Some Spiritual Direction Interns were unable to attend, and also completed the necessary requirements for graduation. Please join us in congratulating: Shannon Eizenga, Brian Relph, Carson Hawks, Mary Jeanne Hawes, and Deb Hansen!

For those unable to join us, we missed you! However, you can still experience the ceremony via our Facebook Live Recording!

Don't miss out on the next Ordination and Graduation! The ceremony takes place September 15, 2018. We have 8 ordinations spots left and 10 openings for Spiritual Direction. Contact Jessica for more info.

How are you helping to create a just world that

“Intimacy with the Divine.” In May’s module we embody the teachings of Sufism, the mystical branch of Islam, through the Dances of Universal Peace, chanting and sacred movement as worship. Along with these Sufi teachings we explore, creative improvisation, faith styles and restorative justice, to inform our spiritual care practices as current and aspiring interfaith chaplains.

With a Grateful Heart...

We express our gratitude to Reverend Sharon Mooney and Vicki Weiland, who recently moved from ChI leadership positions to continue active membership in our Interfaith Community.

Rev Sharon served on our Board of Directors for several years and is currently living in San Carlos, Mexico, where she volunteers with elders, the dying and others in the midst of life-changing transitions.

Vicki served as executive director for over 7 years, and completed ChI's Interfaith Spiritual Direction Certificate program in 2014. She serves as a Spiritual Director in East Contra Costa County. We extend our gratitude to both of these women, who have worked tirelessly for ChI in Executive and Board leadership.

Our Next Steps...

What's happening with Deep Culture at ChI?

We’re excited about the impact of our

Deep Culture study and we are leaning in.

Six months into the Deep Culture (DC) process, the DC Design Team is working with YOUR input from survey findings. Interviews with the board, staff, students and alumni are nearly complete. Faculty interviews and the curriculum assessment, underway, are creating space for some implementation (programmatically) to begin this month.

Thank you for speaking up and speaking Into the ChI story…the Design Team will be developing a set of recommendations to share in mid-May.

New ChI Satellite Community Group is Forming!

Are you an Eco-Minister, like me? My heart aches for this planet we call home, and I know there are more of you who feel the same. This is why we’re launching a new virtual ChI Satellite Community Group - for those of us whose primary call in ministry is Earth-care, Eco-justice, and/or Eco-spiritual practices. This group will meet virtually, every other month, with the first meeting to be scheduled for mid-May.

As the seminary dean, I love this community and all it strives to be. And I know you do too! If you would like to join, email me by March 31.
