“ChI Talks” is a monthly event exploring facets of spirituality through an interfaith lens with the ChI Community.
Join us this month as we explore: “Expanding our Understanding of Deep Culture and Deepening our Commitment to Sacred Justice Ministry”

Whether we are companioning an undocumented grandmother in hospital or a black trans youth who is houseless, it is important for chaplains and ministers to understand the intersectionalities which challenge those we serve. Join us as we explore the evolution of ChI in this time of growing disparity between those in power and the marginalized within our communities.

Theresa “Rivka” Gevurtz is an interfaith minister, chaplain and spiritual director, as well as reiki master. She serves as a member of the core faculty at The Chaplaincy Institute, overseeing the Sacred Justice Ministry curriculum thread.  Rivka has also been part of ChI’s Deep Culture Hive and a member of the community council.

Rivka has worked for 40 years at the intersection of faith and justice, starting her interfaith work at the first residence for People with AIDS in New York City.  She has subsequently worked in faith-based &/or interfaith advocacy and service organizations support the queer community, elders, the environment and children.  Her last job as an executive director, before coming to ChI, was in service to The Community of Welcoming Congregations, a coalition of over 120 spiritual communities across the religious spectrum throughout Oregon and SW Washington.
