Mandisa Amber

Mandisa Amber, M.A., M.F.A. is an accomplished artist, sacred dancer, urban farmer, beekeeper, and educator from the California Bay Area. With over twenty five years of teaching experience, she has a rich history of academic innovation and community engagement. As a former tenured educator, Mandisa pioneered an Ethnic Studies Department and contributed significantly to the fields of Humanities, Theater, and Philosophy. She has taught diverse courses, including Chicanx Studies, Introduction to Latin American and Caribbean Studies, Global Women’s Ethnic Studies, Women’s Ethnic Studies in the United States, Africana Studies, and Culture and Gender in Theater. Mandisa has also developed curricula in Environmental Justice and Humanities and introduced the first Native American Studies course at Napa Valley College. Her work in non-credit courses has been recognized for excellence, particularly in farm-to-table gardening programs in collaboration with the Napa Valley Cooking School.
