Rev. Irene Plunkett

Rev. Irene L. Plunkett, Ph.D co-teaches the Divine Feminine course with Rev. Rivka Gevurtz. She also sits on the ChI board. She was ordained in October 2023 and also completed her certificate in Spiritual Direction at ChI that year. Irene also works with Veriditas, a non-profit that promotes the understanding and use of the labyrinth, on the Labyrinths in Higher Education initiative. She has a small spiritual direction practice. Irene is preparing to serve on Vestry as Senior Warden at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Oakland, CA in 2026. Irene also participates in the Interfaith Council of Alameda County, currently based in Oakland. She is retired from a long career in higher education in California where she taught English literature and composition, English as a Second Language, and was a founding co-madre of The Women’s Studies project. She authored a course in U.S. Women’s Literature and in Women’s Spirituality. Her work also included staff development and faculty training and mentoring.
