Bio: Chaplain Jesse Ford is a gender non-binary person who has for decades made a life with their beloved on (most unexpectedly) the traditional lands of the Ampinefu Band of Kalapuya people, in the Willamette Valley, Oregon. They trained as a paleoecologist, worked in academia, and retired to pursue a call to a ministry that marries Spirit with justice for all beings here in Earth School. They seek to serve an interfaith earth chaplaincy by working in community to continuously learn, experience, and share ways of balancing the chaos that life often offers with equanimity and a generosity of spirit within.

Bio: Rev. Lisa j Winston –– spiritual companion/guide, healer, interfaith chaplain, contemplative photographer, mystic… I care for the soul through creative, sacred, healing arts. In 2005 a near-death experience turned my world upside down and accelerated my quest to know my true soul-self. I have wandered the labyrinth of life for decades as a seeker, through spiritual trainings and direct experiences ––from adventurous pilgrimages to mystery school and seminary, from life at an ashram to work as a hospital chaplain–– only to find that what I was looking for was already inside. My wish is that we all walk in the world awake, connected with and respecting our inner truth, our fellow beings and the natural world around us. If, in your waking you are as Rumi was, “a wanderer, worshipper, lover of leaving,” let’s walk together.

My wife and I are both project managers / engineers in the construction industry for over 40 years. My wife is a musician and we have engaged in church choirs for a long time. I was a leader in the Tri-Valley Unity church for +8 years while training to be a licensed Unity Teacher which I accomplished in 2008. 2008 thru 2010 I was the Unity church leader and provided for the congregation and Sunday services. In 2010 I left there and went to Chi – in order to engage in a more comprehensive religious learning perspective and was able to exercise my creative arts work to find deeper learning in each of the modules. Ordained Sept. 2012. We were then involved with the Danville Congregational Church and there spent five years in leadership and as moderator for 2 years. The last few years we have been back in the fold of the Unity faith and are enjoying participation and support there. Me in supporting the leadership and my wife in the music ministry.

Bio: The focus of my ministry is building community. Following are some ways in which this manifests:

  • Co-facilitate an improv group at a senior center.
  • Serve on the Board of the Rainbow Garden Guild, which serves the LGBTQ+ community in Chicago.
  • Recently finished 7 years as the chief of the Curtin Clan. The group has a connection to the Curtin surname and we have members from Australia, Canada, England, the U.S. and Ireland. We meet every other year, alternating between Ireland and North America. At our Gathering we celebrate Irish music, dance song, storytell and understanding how the generations before us lived. I nurtured our new chief, who is the first one from Ireland in our 22 year history.
  • Participate in the storytelling community in Chicago through classes and performances.
  • In addition to promoting community, I serve as a celebrant for weddings and memorials.
