Programs Overview

Interfaith Chaplaincy Certificate Program

Interfaith Spiritual Direction Program

Sacred Justice Ministry

This program prepares students for professional spiritual care across diverse settings and faith traditions. Through rigorous academic study and supervised formation, participants develop the skills needed to serve individuals and communities with compassion and integrity.

Students who complete the full program are recognized as Spiritual Directors and receive a certificate of completion, preparing them for private practice or integration into professional care settings.

This program is designed for those who feel called to support marginalized communities, regardless of their spiritual tradition (or no spiritual tradition). Whether you are interested in serving the homeless, incarcerated, lgbtq+ , refugees or other communities (or the planet itself), this program will give you the tools to work at the intersection of social justice and interfaith community ministry.

Dual (Combined) Programs

Transfer of Ministerial Standing/
Dual Standing

Interfaith
Ordination

The Chaplaincy Institute offers students the option to enroll in combined programs of study to support expanded educational objectives. These options provide an integrated course of instruction and may reduce duplication of coursework while supporting the development of additional competencies. Students may take the Chaplaincy Program + Spiritual Direction Program or Chaplaincy Program with Sacred Justice Ministry specialization.

This option is designed for clergy and chaplains already ordained in another faith tradition seeking recognition within an interfaith context as well as  those wishing to hold dual standing.

Completion of the certificate program and all ordination-specific requirements fulfills the academic and formation prerequisites to apply for ordination as an Interfaith Minister or Chaplain.

Continued Learning

At the Chaplaincy Institute, continuing education is an invitation to keep growing—spiritually, intellectually, and in practice. Our offerings meet you where you are, whether you’re deepening your own formation or expanding your skills for service in the world.
