PROGRAM LEADERSHIP

Program Director Rev. John Mabry, Ph.D.

Rev. Dr. John R. Mabry, PhD serves as director of the Interfaith Spiritual Direction certificate program at ChI . A United Church of Christ minister, John pastors Grace North Church (UCC/NACCC) in Berkeley, CA and has taught spiritual guidance, pastoral ministry, world religions, and comparative theology at various Bay Area schools. He holds an M.A. in Creation Spirituality (Holy Names College, 1990) and a Ph.D. in Philosophy and Religion (California Institute of Integral Studies, 1997), as well as certificates in Spiritual Direction (Mercy Center, 1998), Spiritual Direction Supervision (Chaplaincy Institute, 2004), and Anglican Studies (Church Divinity School of the Pacific, 2016). John is the author of more than twenty books, including Spiritual Guidance Across Religions; Growing Into God: A Beginner’s Guide to Christian Mysticism; Noticing the Divine: An Introduction to Interfaith Spiritual Guidance; Faithful Generations: Effective Ministry Across Generational Lines and Faith Styles: Ways People Believe, and many others.

Thank you for your interest in our Interfaith Spiritual Direction Certificate Program. We encourage your thoughtful and reflective completion of this Admissions Application. Application Deadline:

Contact admissions for upcoming cohort dates and application deadlines. Applications are taken on a first come, first served basis. There is a maximum of 16 students accepted into each program. We strongly recommend getting your application in early.

Admissions Application Fee:

There is a $65 non-refundable application fee, which you can pay online or mail a check to the office 9450 SW GEMINI DR PMB 27853 BEAVERTON OR 97008-7105.

Admissions Interviews

We review applications in the order we receive them and will notify you once we have received your complete application package. All applications are reviewed by the admissions team. After a review of your application materials, we will be in contact with you about an admissions interview (in person or Zoom) with our Program Director, Rev. Dr. John Mabry.
