Thank you for your interest in volunteering with ChI . We rely heavily on volunteers to assist the staff with a variety of projects related to our work as an Interfaith Seminary and Community. Volunteers can help in many different areas including:
Administration
Partner with the Office Manager to efficiently and effectively administer the Seminary’s educational programs, as well as the ongoing activities of the Community.

Admissions
Our Admissions Manager would appreciate volunteers who are willing to make phone calls to prospective students to encourage attendance at Introductory events, to follow-up on status of their discernment, and/or to answer questions about the program that they may have. Can be done from home.
Also, volunteers able to reach out to organizations who have constituents who may have an interest in or value from our programs to education them about ChI and our offerings.

Volunteer Board of Directors
The following is a list of positions:
Officers/Executive Committee
President
Provide leadership and oversight to the Board of Directors and the Executive Director. Chair meetings and deliver annual performance evaluation of Executive Director.
Vice President (President-Elect)
Partner with President and Executive Director on providing leadership and oversight, help to fill gaps and assuring goals are achieved, ideally with an eye on succeeding the current President. Perform responsibilities of the President, such as chairing Board meetings, when President is not available.
Vice President, Strategy
Partner with President, Executive Director, Board, Faculty and Staff leadership to grow and develop the organization consistent with the vision, mission and exceed our short and long term goals
Treasurer
Partner with Director of Operations, staff and Board to develop annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and monthly financial reports to track progress against goals.
Secretary
Partner with Board President to prepare meeting agendas, send out meeting notices, collect rsvp’s, and take and distribute minutes to members from all Board meetings. Coordinate facilities and/or conference call logistics for in-person or virtually-held meetings, as necessary.
Committee Chairs
Program Development Chair
Partner with Dean of Interfaith Studies, Director of Spiritual Direction Program, and Faculty to ensure the high quality of today’s offerings and identify new opportunities to add value and increase revenue to support our mission and goals.
Outreach Chair
Partner with Admissions Manager to lead the admissions processes and outreach activities with and for prospective students to achieve student enrollment goals.
Board & Volunteer Development
Partner with Board President, Executive Director, and other staff/volunteer leaders to identify and recruit Board members and key volunteers to support our mission and goals.
Donor Development Chair
Partner with Executive Director on defining a donor development strategy and implementing plans to reach our fundraising goals. Build relationships with key influencers and donors.
Marketing & Communications Chair
Partner with Director of Marketing & Admissions to develop and implement strategy and plans to increase awareness and interest in ChI offerings.
The ChI Community Development Chair
Partner with the staff Director of the ChI Community to define, organize, and empower the formation of the community.

CHI Interfaith Community: Volunteering
The ChI Interfaith Community is a vibrant, evolving body of people joined together to foster peace, promote interfaith understanding and transform the world through enlightened, loving service. Such a revolutionary spiritual community is only possible when each of us steps forward to volunteer and offer our unique gifts.
The volunteer opportunities within ChI ‘s Interfaith Community center around four areas: current ChI students, ChI alumni, ChI Community gatherings, and Interfaith gatherings. Provided below are the current volunteer opportunities within the ChI Interfaith Community. Please click on each link for more information. ChI Community Gatherings:
Community Retreat Coordinator: Organize a community-wide retreat for ChI ’s Interfaith Community.
Worship Service Logistics Coordinator (in Berkeley): Provide logistical support for ChI ’s interfaith worship services.
Satellite Community Coordinator: Organize ChI Community events where you live.
Support ChI Community Members:
Alumni Website: Maintain and provide alumni support for a website on which those seeking the services of our alumni can easily search for them according to name, location and types of spiritual support provided.
Online Resources Project Team: Create and maintain an online exchange for alumni to share resources, best practices, questions, and programs for personal and professional support.
Community Care Team: Serve on a team of alumni who will reach out to community members who are experiencing a life transition.
Clergy in Good Standing Support: Help process Clergy in Good Standing applications, while holding each clergy member in prayer.
Support Current ChI Students:
Core Competencies Assessment Team: Serve on a team that supports a student on the path toward ordination.
Module Ambassador: Be a mentor and representative of the ChI Interfaith Community at a module.
Ordination Ceremony Logistics: Coordinate logistics and volunteers for ChI ’s ordination ceremonies.

Our staff could use assistance as follows to meet our goals:

Coordinate logistics of fulfilling donor benefits to members of Giving Circles

Prospective donors to determine capacity, interest and potential for future giving
Donors giving to other “like” organizations to enhance donor prospect list
Corporations that have interest in our constituents for corporate sponsorships
Foundations whose mission/guidelines are a match with ChI ‘s programs
Events
Coordinate auction or other fundraising events to raise funds for ChI
Outreach (Telephone)
Thank you calls to all donors who give to ChI to acknowledge their support (ongoing)
Calls to follow-up mail appeals encouraging support (twice annually – December and June)

Public/Media Relations
Media Relations – looking for someone with media and public relation’s experience and contacts to help raise awareness of our seminary’s programs for prospective students. Candidate will help tell our story and gain exposure in traditional and onlinemedia outlets both locally and nationally. Must have experience managing on-line social media and writing Press Releases and Feature Stories for national distribution.
Speakers Bureau
Establish Speakers Bureau = recruit & train Alumni, faculty & staff; establish Topics Menu
